Marsalis Music was founded in 2002 when saxophonist Branford Marsalis recognized the need to form a label where a diverse array of musicians could document their best efforts free of the commercial pressures that have grown more and more prevalent in the music industry.

Conceived by New Orleans natives Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis, Musicians' Village will provide a home for both the artists who have defined the city’s culture and the sounds that have shaped the musical vernacular of the world.

The Marsalis Family Receives 2011 NEA Jazz Masters Award!!

The Marsalis Family (Ellis, Branford, Wynton, Delfeayo, and Jason) has just been announced a recipient of the 2011 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award!

This is the nation's highest honor in jazz.
